Sierra Bullets is bringing their 69 grain Blitzking and the new 69 grain Tipped Game King to market as components for handloading the numerous .224″ caliber cartridges, very soon. Our contacts at Sierra Bullets have confirmed today that they are waiting on final packaging supplies for a very near future release of these projectiles.

We have been asking about a 69 grain SBK component release for at least 5 years, including a specific video asking readers/watchers to reach out to Sierra and urge them to making them available to handloaders. The 69 grain TGK was recently released in the new Barnes Harvest .223 Remington ammunition. Although we have not used these new bullets on varmints/predators yet, the Tipped Game King is one of the best projectiles for varminting and coyote hunting available today.

Many people ask why we are so interested in this particular weight projectile in .224″ caliber cartridge handloading. The answer is simple. With the new, high-speed centerfire cartridges and faster twist barrels (.22 Creedmoor, .22 ARC, .224 Valkyrie, etc), the move to slightly heavier bullets is a no-brainer. The slightly heavier bullet equals more energy at longer ranges, while staying relatively flat shooting. I’m purposely not mentioning Ballistic Coefficient, because when shooting within 400 yards, B.C. does not really matter.

We will have more on this bullet release once they hit the shelves, so stay-tuned.
