Varminter Magazine is focusing more on night hunting for predators / pest birds and the optics/products needed to make your hunts more successful. When we heard that Sionyx Digital Night Vision had a new Opsin Color DNV helmet mounted monocular package, we contacted them to see if we could get a package in for us to use out in the field for the waning days of winter. We spoke with the Sionyx representative and they sent out one of the Opsin packages for us to use out in the field.
David received the unit just as we left for the 2023 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. He didn’t have time to use it beforehand, but we have a hunt scheduled for the beginning of February, where we can put it to the test on some cattle ranches in Northern Nevada. However, we did get a chance to meet up with the Sionyx folks at the show and were treated to a full rundown of, not only the Opsin Color DNV monocular, but a bit about the company and other products. Afterwards, we got to test it a bit in their unique dark room that was set-up right there on the SHOT Show floor! The dark room showed us the capabilities of the Opsin unit. It was amazing!! We are looking forward to getting this unit out into the field for some real world video and thoughts on this scanner.
