It’s official! Sierra Bullets have officially changed the name of their most popular varmint hunting bullet, the Sierra Blitzking. I spotted one of the new boxes today at my local Scheel’s store and noticed the name change immediately. The Sierra Blitzking is now the Sierra VarmintKing! This makes sense, as their other projectiles lines are the MatchKing, the GameKing and the Tipped GameKing.
Sierra has made a lot of positive moves in the last six months that really benefit Varminters. First, they released the 69 grain Sierra Blitzking, scratch that, the 69 grain VarmintKing projectiles as a component in late 2025. Second, they are releasing the 69 grain Sierra Tipped GameKing soon (early 2026). Both of these are extremely well made bullets that perform phenomenally on small varmints all the way up to coyotes, badgers and even wild hogs. I’m looking forward to an explosive spring!!
