Crow (Corvus brachyrhynchos)


Family Corvidae, Genus Corvus, which includes the Raven, C. corax.
Range is throughout the Northern Hemisphere. The largest perching, or song bird: about 20" long, black, big-bodied, thick heavy bill. Crows are abundant in Canada, Mexico & the U.S.; except the Great Basin region. Crows migrate from north to south in winter. Crows sometimes amass in huge communal roosts, occasionally numbering in the hundreds of thousands. Crows are aggressive omnivores and prey on other birds, their eggs and crops.
