I did call CCI today and the guy their would not tell me much other than that they are working on a wonderful Varmint load for the 22 mag. He would not talk about it much. He said that it may not be a V-max bullet and that it may not make it out until Fall 2007 or until the data and the Board over seen things. He said that the tnt and + V's are still going to be made. So who can tell if the ol' 22 mag can hang with the old 5mm or not. If cci does come out with a new Varmint round w/ 2300 to 2400 FPS than i will get a new 22mag but right i am still 17HMR. The tech at CCI also said the rounds they are testing have been getting 2400+ FPS. If this is true and they make this varmint round look out Woodchucks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Have you check lately? I saw a box of Remington 22 WIN MAG 33 GR. V-MAX for $17.99 a box. Stopped at Wally world and paid $12.17 for the same stuff( last box). This place I checked first was charging about $9.00 for all of the HMR rounds. It went up to $11.50 Mach II went from $7.00 to $9.00. I could not believe how fast it went up. They said it may go up anther 13% before the new year. Has anyone else seen a jump that fast?

It has to do with the rising cost, world wide, of copper and such. China is buying gobs of it, stoking the prices.

We are paying about $10 for the Remington 33 grain here and around $9 for the HMR. I shoot both sparingly as I can load 22 Hornet with a 35 grain V-Max for about the same cost and get umpty-percent better performance.

The cost of premium 22WMR has always edged the 17HMR. Twenty-two mag shooters are usually willing to pay the price.~AMMOe

Has anyone that contacted CCI think to get ballistics info?

B.C. numbers would really help.

I emailed them, Don't know if they will spill the beans.

At 2100 the BC is around 130. Tests have shown that this particular bullet loses BC as it is accelerated so at 2400 it wouldn't be that high. ~AMMOe

Guys, I called them (CCI) last week. I posted on RFC, and I should have posted here. Sorry.

I was told, by the rounds designer, that in Jan. 07, a 30gr. V-Max round will be introduced. If I remember correctly, production starts in, I think Nov. Not sure. The gentleman told me it would travel at 2200fps, and in most rifles, shoot MOA or better. That's all I know.

Don't forget Katrina and Rita, prices always go up after hurricanes tear hell out of the housing and all the copper wiring that goes into them, it isn't always the Chinese that deserve all the blame (not that I'm defending them, we just have to keep all this in perspective).

Mr. Jon

Yes, our Rimfire R&D Engineer, Brett Olin has developed a new CCI 22 WMR
round that is due out in January of 2007. It has a poly tip 30gr. bullet
and will have a muzzle velocity of 2,200 fps. The CCI part number will
be #0073. We have had exceptional accuracy results in our testing with
this new cartridge. He has not provided a BC yet.

I do believe our Engineer did speak to a customer (a fellow who
frequents the popular "Rimfire Central" forum) and did discuss this new
cartridge with him at bit. Linda

I keep hearing around on the internet that CCI will be offering a new 30
grain 22WMR round.

I heard this from 2 people who claim to have spoken to someone at CCI
over the phone.

I also heard that The new ammo will be a ballistic tip much like the
remington 33 grain v-max.

Is this true?

If it is what is the B.C. on this new bullet and what velocity does it
achieve?

Thanks,
Jon
