I don't know how far you were out in the woods, but we have those guys come right into our yards! While I live close to the city limit of Roswell, NM (exurban area), these guys have a lot of cahoonies, because I nail them (when I can) with an airgun!

I dont know if Fox are brave or stupid.

I had one Fox come in from behind, he was only 5 yards away as he jogged past me to the caller that was on the ground 10 yards in front of me.

Gray's aren't known to be the sharpest tool. In the old day's sometimes we'd call them in and kill one or two, then go back to the same set the next night and call them in again. Good Shooting.

Had some interesting events in our neighborhood. It concerns Foxes. Last year we had two fox show up in our residential neighborhood. Both were in great shape and turned out to a bonded pair. I asked Animal control to come out and trap and release them in appropriate areas. Guess what? They said they'd trap and then kill them. Perfectly good waste of a great target. Well, they had babies and then got run over. We now have 6 young foxes living in the neighborhood. People are leaving food for them and almost every morning my wife encounters several of them "strolling" past her on the way to her car. They should be out in the country where they would make great targets or be able to create more targets. Most of my neighbors are idiots, but I do enjoy the foxes and their antics. My Labs just ignore them unless they get two bold.

We have a small issue here in Roswell, NM, in that discharging any type of weapon within the city limits, is against the law (duh!). But, they have to KNOW you did, obviously. Well, my .25 caliber airgun is backyard friendly, so read between the lines!

I used to think foxes were smart. I shoot ground squirrels a lot in my yard. It got to where the sound of a shot was like ringing a dinner bell for the foxes! I'd shoot one and within a min there would be at least one fox strolling through the yard!

But the coyotes ran them all off or killed them. DR
