I just cast these up today from the NOE 172-26 HP mould…. Tiny little things, less than 1/2" long, and the HP isn't much over 1/16"....

They weigh 24.7 gr.... I will be pushing them with a custom PCP running regulated on 2800 psi.... and expect to drive them in the high 900s....

Nice. Are you going to use lube?

They look like they're made for gas checks but I guess you won't need those at 900 fps.

Lube is not really require for airguns, provided the bullets are sized properly.... We prefer GC designs whenever possible, because they have a cleaner release from the muzzle, as there is always some distortion of PB bullets from the sprue cutter....

Do you think they'll mushroom?

I have no doubt!.... They may even fragment.... Here is a photo of some .257 cal HPs shot into soap at 950 fps....

Bullets on the left are the same bullets without HPs, that had already travelled through the same size block of soap (9" long)….

I tested the .172 cal 24.7 gr. NOE HP in soap today.... It is quite spectacular at 1050 fps (60 FPE)….

172%20cal%20HP%20at%201050%20fps_zpscgg1

The penetration was 3.5", and the wound cavity is nearly as wide as the length of the bullet, at 0.45"....

Here is a photo of the gun.... It uses a 500 cc 4500 psi carbon tank, regulated down to 2800 psi, feeding a 28" TJ's barrel with a 9" twist.... Over 50 shots per fill....
