My Savage has a bling box magazine, and so I can't really carry an extra mag for short forays. Does anyone here have an ammo carrier that is not a hard plastic box (can't stand the rattling) to carry 10 extra rounds with? I've looked at the cheap one Midway offers, but I wonder if since it's made to be "universal" the loops might not hold the smaller cartridges as well as it would something with the .308 family. Lets see what you guys all use!

I have one of the elastic sleeve shell holders, and it seems to hold the shells pretty tight but it is new, so it may stretch out, but it's only $5 or so at wally world.

You can use Altoid tin boxes and cut a piece of florist's foam to fit in the bottom and press your cartridges in the foam to make a custom fit, then cut a piece of foam rubber/styrofoam/cork/etc to put in the top to keep them in place. You can reuse them over and over, they're silent, fit in a jacket or vest pocket, and you can use different ones for different cartridges, or just make new foam inserts as your needs change.
