Had these on the range today, 25gr 17WSM Lot # 2HB91. The one on the left jammed up my bolt so bad that I had to slam the palm of my hand against the bolt handle to get it to open. A number of the ones in that lot had cracks in the necks.

That don't look good. Aside from that <_< how did they group at the range?

That's not good.  Have you spoken to Winchester about what happened?  Also, based on the age of the ammo, I'm assuming it was in a B.MAG?

Very common with the older lots of ammo in a Bmag. The newer lots #'s and rifles have shown some improvements
with split cases and FTF's. Send Winchester an email and a photo they need to know about the issues in order to make improvements.

I have 30 boxes or so of about half and half between the two grains. They all got mixed up when I was cleaning my safe. Is there a way to tell which lots are older to newer?

Yes out of my Cabela's fluted HB B-mag, I sent Winchester Ammo an email with photo atached and I asked for a list of lot numbers and dates. I turely doubt that I will hear back from them.

I date all of my ammo but I think the newer ammo lot number is stamped with a much larger
font size then the stuff made a year ago.

Not absolutely positive on this but I think the newer production ammo lot# are 6 characters.
