live in west central Oregon.  Enjoy long range shooting, squeeks, groundhogs, and coyotes.  Like to fish and camp in the back country.  .22 rim-fire, 223 AI, 6-.284, .308, 30-06 AI, 50 BMG.

Welcome to Varminter!

A 30-06 AI sounds like an interesting cartridge.  I love my '06, but if I can put a little more push behind that bullet, it may be something to look into.

Fill me in a bit!

Welcome to the group. How about adding a nice 17 cal to your collection?

Yeah on both!  Nice to see you here, Gene!  What have you shot with your .50? Everyone wants one, few have them. ;)

It's a slam dunk Glen 50 BMG and 17 Hornet on the same hunt. I've hunted upland game with a 10GA., 28 GA. and .410. People go nuts in a cool way.

Better cover both bases. Be not over or under gunned! I'll have to dig out the pics of the ground squirrel that ate my 650 grain 50x140 Sharps bullet at 125 yards....to Red Glen and DR I know it was all luck.

I have shot two antelope at about 1200 yds with my first fifty.  Also some rockchucks at a 1000 with the 2nd one.  Had a 17 Remington.  Hated it.  Worst cartridge I ever messed with.  My 30-06 AI is built on a commercial Mauser action and shoots SMK 180 at 3050 fps and 4 in at 600 yds.  Still messing with the 6-.284.  Can't find bullets in the 80 to 90 gr range.  Will post more later.
