I've been asked by a bunch of people how the new Hornady 22 Magnum NTX ammunition performs on small varmints. This is a real short video showing the damage to some ground squirrels I recently took during a depredation hunt on a farm.
My impressions are that this ammunition is extremely accurate, flat shooting and does enough damage to drop smaller varmints on the spot! Accuracy is always #1 for me, but the performance is good enough to expect dead varmints when shot placement is not ideal. I'm not saying rump shoot them, but I am saying that an inch off shouldn't make a difference on this sized game. The performance does not match the lead ammunition, but that is to be expected with the lead-free option.
