Full Version: Cooper 20 VarTarg

As some of you may remember, I bought a Cooper M38 Classic chambered for the .20 VarTarg a couple years ago. I bought a Leupold 4.5-14x VX-3 with the Varmint Hunter reticle and Conetrol rings and bases.

Last summer I about threw the darn thing across the room from frustration trying to get the reticle leveled. This summer I swore I would not fire a shot from another rifle until I had the Cooper at the range working on a load. Well, I finally did it (mostly tongue.gif ).

Since it's been pretty slow around here, instead of just posting the final results I'll write the whole gory tale a bit at a time, just so everyone will have a good reason to drop in here and hang out.

Even if the reason is just to laugh at me. laugh.gif

The good news is that I finally, grudgingly, shelled out the cash to buy a digital camera, so there will be pictures as soon as I get a photobucket account and figure out how to do the whole camera -> computer -> internet sequence.

The bad news is that I did not fire a shot at a varmint all summer. The enormous, fat groundhog living in my landlord's barn about 75 yards away doesn't bother to run when I come outside. sad.gif The last time I mowed the lawn for the year, the stupid thing didn't even run when I started the lawn mower. mad.gif I feel so ashamed.

Stay tuned... cool.gif

I think I could have thrown rocks and the darn rodent would have just given me the finger (claw?).

Sorry I haven't posted part two yet. In November I participated in my first NaNoWriMo and failed miserably. I have no excuse for December, but I'll get back to work, I promise. smile.gif

Let me know where you live, and I will come out there and shoot the darned thing myself. biggrincamo.gif BTW, what does a ground hog look like? I have never seen one out here on the left coast. All I know is that if they see their shadow on Groundhog Day, it spells another six weeks of winter....or is it the other way around?
