I realized that I needed to upgrade my gear for future cold weather hunts out west. I am set for clothes. The last piece of the puzzle is a pair of dedicated hunting boots. I keep seeing Irish Setter boot products (part of Red Wing Shoes) getting great reviews.

This is the one I was looking at.

Irish Setter Mountain Claw hunting boots

Any thoughts or brand reviews?

I've also heard nothing but good things about Irish Setter boots. As with Red Wing, quality is top notch. I was in the market for a pair of good MN winter boots, and I ended up with Cabela's Inferno 2000. Very comfortable boots but It's still been too warm to try them out. They are a tad heavy, but what would you expect for something with that much insulation?! I am unsure of where you are from but is the 1000 gram a good weight for you? I know they are fairly warm but most people in MN like 1400 and up for extreme cold and 1000 gram are great for late fall....Just some thoughts.

those look good. all leather construction will get really heavy when wet/melted snow. those look like a good cross between a walking boot and a pack boot smile.gif

I used 8", insulated Danner boots with HEAVY wool socks.
