Man, this forum has gotten real quiet. Where is everyone????

Anyway -

Like a lot of others, we were away for the long weekend and pretty tired come this morning, so I didn't get to the golf course until almost 1 PM. As far as the hog hunting is concerned, that's not a problem because of the cooler AM temps these days. I cruised around for nearly four hours enjoying the great weather and the near solitude the area offers. Once again, the wildlife was abundant including a doe and two fawns and a six point two year old buck following a doe. They all allowed me to get within ten yards of them.

Well, here are the cell phone pics of the eight I scored head shots on with my Marlin 22. Four did get back into their holes. I know I jerked the trigger on those. whatthecamo.gif

Groundhogs by the truckload. cool.gif That's a great hunting spot you have there.

Do you put them in the dumpster?

I'm thinking of going to a few golf courses tomorrow and speaking to the groundskeepers. Any hints or suggestions?

I just throw them off in the woods or tall grass, whichever boarders the course, usually in a more remote area if possible.

I'd just introduce myself, ask if they have a groundhog problem (holes in the fairways or greens) and if they say yes, would they be open to you helping them get rid of the criters by hunting (shooting) them.

Make sure you have some answers to any concerns they might have about safety, how they would prefer you dispose of the bodies and when the best times would be to hunt so you don't disturb the golfers or others in the area.

Explain what kind of gun you will be shooting, how loud it will be, etc.

Be courteous, be considerate and be honest and then work out the details if they agree.

Good luck!

It's forecast to rain tomorrow, so I'm going to visit a few in B. County that indicate that they close one day a week. I figure that way I'd have a clear field for any safety concerns. Wish me luck. Thanks for the tips.
