A feller over on missouriwhitetails.com caught a young bobkitten trying to run across the road (yeah, he got bitten and scratched for his trouble). whatthecamo.gif Still, he got some great pics for us all, since I stole them and am sharing the link with you all.

After the pic session, he turned it loose. I suppose he could get in trouble for harassing wildlife, but hey, he got some good pics................ Enjoy!

Glenn I had a bobkitten when growing up. A friends dogs got the mother and one of the kittens came wandering in to their place. I was given it to raise and I had Spot for several years until one day he just freaked out. I was feeding him and he went berserk and chewed me a new one. I still have a couple of scars on my wrist and arm where he laid me open. It's hard to believe how powerful a cat that size can be, as I had my hands full. He had been such a great pet up until that day. But he sure got to be more than a young teenager could handle. He would never let me in his cage after that day so he had to go. I was lucky enough that the zoo took him. I had all sorts of pets as a kid from things I brought home to animals we bought. But Spot was one of the most unique pets I ever had. He would walk with me like a dog and was allowed in the house where he laid on the couch while I watched TV. He liked to sleep on my bed and used a litter box. We tried to teach him to use the toilet like my aunts old cat did but he wasn't going for that water down below. LOL

They don't call 'em wild animals for no reason, that's for sure. I know another MO resident who found three kittens in a hollow tree. He took them home, raised them in the house, put in a doggy door, the whole bit. He let them come and go as they pleased, for about a year, maybe a little longer. Then they took off, never to be seen again.

They are probably still eating turkeys and killing rabbits to their heart's content, who knows? For whatever reasons, a Missourian will take in more than their share of wild critters. My cousin kept a coyote for years and years and years, that rascal NEVER tamed down, it was always a wild SOB. He didn't even like it when they fed him, he'd go nuts all the time.
Neighbors had coons, possums, squirrels, crows, just like the Beverly Hillbillies, nothing they could catch went unmolested freakedcamo.gif Must be something in the water out there. Kinda glad I moved to Kentucky, the water here is better............

Cute little monster.

Years ago my girlfriend had a cat one time that only threw one kitten in a litter. It was born with a bobed tail and ears that had feathers. The color was strange for a domestic cat. The kitten was real friendly at first but as it grew the only one that could get near it was the her little sister. At about 1 1/2 years old it would leave for 5 or 6 days at a time and eventually one day never came back. I always suspected that it was a half breed bobcat. Will bobcats mate with domestic cats? I'm thinking it's possible.

I'm told it's possible, but I've never seen anyone try it. It would sure make for an interesting "pet" and might "handle" a little easier than a full-blood bobcat. I HAVE heard of crossbred cats like that, it might be worth googling up.

Heck, even an old barn cat is a handfull most of the time! I don't think I'd want one, I like a mild-mannered critter myself, like my buddy's Maine Coon Cat. He's as big as a bobcat, but a genuine sissy fraidy cat . I like Benny because he's friendly, not mean. I don't need or want a mean animal around.
