A couple of threads back I mentioned that my old BRNO bolt gun was again devoid of glass. I do love the gun in its svelte nakedness but it seemed a shame to have that nice scope and rings just sitting there on the shelf. It was like itching powder: The senselessness of having a good scope lying unused just bugged me. This week, with the help of a nice fellow in North Carolina and some overtime at work, I solved the dilemma.

It should be here next week.cool.gif ~AMMOe

PS: If anyone is interested, there is a CZ/Brno 611 autoloader in 17HMR on Gunbroker.com. Item# 134904591 No, not my gun. I hear they shoot, though...

Yes. I "solved the dilemma" the other day by driving out to Harrisburg, PA to pickup a Sako 75 Hunter in .223. biggrincamo.gif

SD: Good for you. A Thinking Man applies logic in all dire situations.... A principle my ex-wife couldn't fully appreciate. cool.gif ~AMMOe

The BRNO 581 showed up last night. It was grungy beyond belief (inside) but cleaned up nicely. Got a real scare when I looked through the barrel from the breech end: until I pulled the bore snake through it it looked corroded /eroded. It turned out to be oil and goo collected in the chamber. Came clean with a tug and I was pleased to find rifling a mile deep, end to end. Gave it a quick test before dinner. It surely shoots like a CZ from what I've seen so far. Too bad the CZ 511 is a dead issue....~AMMOe

Addendum: Decided to beat the rain storms and go to the range this evening. These are 2 eight shot groups, somewhat rapid fire, aiming at the center of the 1" squares. The top group is Aguila SE High Velocity 40 grain and the bottom group is some old PMC ""Zapper" I had. Found out the rifle functions fine with subsonics as well....

wink.gif I'd say there are some critters out there who are going to hate that gun. Nice shooter

Thanks! The scope I was using (an old 1.5 to 4X Weaver) is a bit parallaxy at 25M which I'm sure aided in the two low shots on the top group. If you look at the upper "hole" and realize there are six rounds through that spot, it takes in a whole new dimension. smile.gif The left pulls with the Zapper may have been me, though as the cheek weld felt great. I'll leave the Weaver there though as it's a great field scope that never changes zero once it's set. If the thunder showers would let up a little I could slow down and do some serious testing... as well as some bunny busting! ~AMMOe
