I fell off the wagon the other night and bought a circa 1925 S&W Regulation Police in 32 S&W Long. With a 95-ish grain bullet it isn't a manstopping cartridge but it is an extremely accurate one, and certainly good enough for cotton-tails. I have a 77 grain mold and someplace, I have a 98 grain HP mold. I fear the 77 grain will hit below the point of aim but the 98 grain should do the trick. Should be here by Monday next. Can't wait.~AMMOe

A buddy of mine found a 4" J-frame .32 awhile back, and immediately took it to his gunsmith. Made a .32/32 Kit Gun out of it

, adding adjustable sights and slicking it up a fuzz. This was before Smith did the "Gun of the Week" bingeing of the '80s and '90s. It was a VERY nice little plaything. I don't know if he killed anything with it, but it sure was fun to shoot. No kick worth mentioning, cheap to feed, and light to carry.
AMMOe, you ought to have a ball with it.

COOL AMMOe!!
Should be a cool little shooter. Let us know how she does.
I have a Single Six in 32 H&R mag, shoots better than I thought it would. It needs to draw blood soon.

The 32 S&W Long has a heck of an accuracy rep, as does the 32 H&R Magnum. Ken Waters wrote a really nice bit on the 32 H&R in the Ruger. ~AMMOe

I have high hopes for the 327 Federal Magnum also. I hope that Ruger offers it in a hunter model or the GP 100. If not I'll save my pennies for a Freedom Arms.

The S&W showed up today. The gun is virtually unfired. The photos on Gun Broker made it look like it was pretty badly worn but, in reality, the bluing is about 95% and lacks even the drag line fro the cylinder bolt. It even came in a custom holster. Photos eventually.
The bad news is that my 32 S&W dies and my 98 grain HP mold were together on a large blue storage bin that was stolen from my driveway when I moved. I'll need to save up for that equipment...

I'm working on getting the handguns my grandfather had and one of them is a S&W in 32

Cool. I have a problem other than the lack of dies: The gun I bought appears unfired; not even a turn ring on the cylinder and all the bluing is intact on the recoil shield and ejector rod. So, I'm in a fix... Do I take a virtually new, 1925 S&W and hunt rabbits with it?? Or fire it once or twice just to say I did and shelve it for the kids to sell once I'm cold?? I almost wish it'd been the beater I thought it was when I bought it.

well I would have to say that you should just go out and enjoy it. I have found that when I try to save something mint it ends up stolen and then I end up wishing I would have at lest have had my fun with it before they got it. But that just my two cents.

Shoot it my grandfather was almost 90 when he passed and I don't know how long he had it for.

Yeah that's a tough one. I have had a few that were mint. My 17-2 is near perfect. It was given to me by the widow of a friend that passed way before he should have. For a while I didn't want to shoot it. But then I realized that Roger would have wanted me to enjoy it as life is short and you can't take it with you. I'm very carefull with it but I take it out and use it.

Wouldn't a .22LR pistol be just fine for bunny rabbits?

Yes, a Ruger MK would be a fine bunny slayer. One of my favorite rabbit guns was a Nylon 66 .22 rifle. That gun shoulders quickly and the open sights had a way to get on a moving target very nicely
