I had my doubts about the gun being effective against such a large varmint, but after that, I think I have a new go-to gun for my varmint chasing. All the groundhogs I hunt are around the farm buildings, most shots are within 45 yds with few exceptions. My furthest being only 119 yards with my Fireball in an entirely different spot.
The rifle is set at 32 ft/lbs currently, and to give a comparison: I built a silent pellet trap on Friday, using a small conduit box and 6 lbs of duct seal, making for a thickness of ~1.5" across the back of the box. My RWS 75 10 meter rifle penetrates approx. 3/8" at 10 meters, it is a 5-6 ft/lb gun. My FX on the other hand, penetrated completely denting the back of the box at 10 meters. At 100 yards, the FX penetrated to 1 1/8". Three times more at almost ten times the distance!
I don't have any pics, but to give an example of the accuracy of the modern adult air rifles, I shot 28 out of 32 clay birds set out at 114 yds that same day. The local gun club has a TON of non-broken clay birds out in the tal grass, and they don't mind if I collect them. I just picked up another 125 birds for free! On occasion the airgun will just poke a hole in them if they don't shatter, but hey-its another reason to shoot them again haha.
Sorry for the terrible picture quality (cellphone)

I saw Ron's ad in the classifed section about selling his AR (good deal for it BTW) before I started typing this, and I seriously understand why-these things are addictive! I would be considering it too if I wasnt plannig to go on a PD trip in the next year.
