yeah right anim_rofl2.gif no not me. I shake like an old lady. I shot it off of some homemade shooting sticks. I spotted another but it was a youngster and I couldn't get myself to drop the hammer on him. Maybe when he's bigger and smarter cool.gif

BTW, there is a hole at the base of the tree in the photo. This is a "fill" area that has concrete chunks, limbs, etc. dumped along with wood chips. Lots and lots of wood chips. That tree is actually buried about 15'-20' deep. The hole acts like a stove pipe for the heat generated by the decomposing wood chips and other decaying vegitation. It's unbelievably hot if you hold your hand even 3' over the hole. I don't know how that hog could stand it in there?

Please allow me to fill in for Skypilot during his absence...

That Varmint is RUINT!!! ohmy.gif grincamo.gif

Great shot anyway Red. I am surprised that the fermentation of the wood chips hasn't generated enough heat for it to go on fire. Have a good one. AL

A might smaller than the last one. 35-40 yds, dropped on the spot with just a tail wag.

I don't know about anybody else but I sure like seein those "good" groundhogs. biggrincamo.gif
Red
good? as in dead? if so, I like making them good. I need to find a few more bad ones to rehabilitate.

I took a centerfire out to the area where I'd released those trapped hogs a couple years ago. I had high hopes they were prancing all over the lower pasture. This was what I found...

The owner told me he shot 30 hogs from his truck one afternoon and never moved. That was back in the 70's. He said he sees one or so per year now. I'd feel kinda bad shooting any with the possibility it could be the last one.
Glen
Dead is good!! biggrincamo.gif And makin good groundhogs out of live groundhogs is always fun. biggrincamo.gif I don't see a lot of them around cattle here either. They might still be there but just not in that immediate vicinity. It looks like a nice place to set & relax for a couple hours tho. cool.gif

Maybe it's all the groundhog-size cow patties out in the field. If I had to lick my fur clean I'd stay away from cattle, too. tongue.gif
Glen
And here all this time we thought you did DH!! anim_rofl2.gif

I just figured the cows made their dinner taste funny. laugh.gif
