If you love to hunt vermin with an airgun, you've got to love the month of May. The population of California Ground Squirrels, in a given area, at least sextuples in just a week or two. The young vermin start to come above ground, making for a very target rich environment. It's a great time to hone your wind doping skills, and practice hitting quarter sized heads at long airgun ranges.
The following video shows some of the chipmunk sized squirrels I took one day on my last hunt in California. Most of these shots were made with my RWS Rapier shooting tin pellets. The ranges varied from 40 yards to just over 60. These vermin were literally running just about everywhere. I went through a lot of air and pellets but I'm not complaining. That is always the measure of an excellent varmint hunt.
