Full Version: 17 Fireball Powder
I'm looking for loads for a 17 Fireball, with the powder shortage around here looking for powder suggestions. I will be using 20 grain Vmax's. Has anyone used Varget, or IMR4198. Thats what I have on hand. Let me know what you have found to work. Thanks for any help Alan

Here's some data for the .17 Mach IV, which is almost the same case. START LOW AND WORK UP, but that's just good sense anytime. I didn't get into it too deep, but there's some 4198 data there.

As the .17 Furball 
is an almost identical twin to the 17 Mach IV you owe it to yourself to get some Benchmark and some 25 gr bullets (Berger HP's were originaly specified, but with the Fireball's 9 twist, the V-Max may work well). Somewhere around 18.4-18.8gr should give you them bug-hole groups everyone LUVZ.
Gotta LUV the Mach IV or its more contemporary cousin
