Did you ever pay full cash for a gun that was on hand at the gun shop...and still could not take it home with you I bought this CZ Ultra Lux .22 almost a month ago from the new gun store in town, but their transfer paperwork from ATF took a solid month to get approved and back to them. But, it was worth the wait as my other gun shops did not have one in stock and it would have cost more to special order it. They called me up yesterday and said I could pick her up when I had time...I made some immediate time available I got a feeling the squirrels are going to hate this gun next season, but on the bright side, there's still a couple days of crow season left here

Shoots half decent as well Glen. Here's 5 shots at 50 yards. This is a fun gun with open sights. I picked up some CZ rings and will mount a scope to play around and see what she does. I had been told that the scope might be a problem with that style stock...I want to verify or rule that out this weekend.

Awesome rifle Mike. How in the hell did you see that at 50 yards? Must be young eyes. I'm old and need a scope on my _____, to hit the toilet. LOL. AL

"...need a scope on my _____, to hit the toilet." These eyes ain't young at all CB'er, but contacts were on board. That flourescent orange actually sticks out like a sore thumb as long as their is plenty of light. Heck, the gun did all the hard work

with that long barrel, I think it would be exceptionally quiet with subsonic ammo.
A guy at my range has one just like it. It shoots great!

I have some subs, but did not try them Red...But, I did shoot some CCI HV Short HP's and they shot GREAT...and were very quiet with that barrel. I'm pretty sure the subs would be the sound of the firing pin connecting and that would be about it....Hopefully the lead would make it out the end of the barrel

Nice rifle Mike! There are a whole bunch of guys on RFC that use them and love em! They are apparently pretty popular with the 200yd rimfire guys too! I tried out some subsonics in my 28" barrell Winchester, and they actually made no difference between them and the standard velocity rounds. Stingers were loud. You will love that gun I'm sure. The long barrel makes mine MUCH quieter than a staple gun! I bet yours will too.
Be sure to post up first blood!

PS, the coyote hat is really warm, thanks again!

Hey Red....Does your buddy have any problems sighting through his scope? I have heard that some have trouble getting a good cheek weld with that drop comb stock while using a scope Yes Jerry, the barrel does quiet everything down quite a bit and I like that. I'm looking forward to playing around with that roll up rear sight....looks like fun. Glad to hear your noggin is staying warm in that hat

I had one of these -tho nowhere as pretty as that rifle- and let a buddy talk me out of it. There is a shop in Billings that still has a half dozen or so in stock. If I had a problem with the 28" tube it's barrel time. Off hand I shot better with higher velocity stuff than I did with sub-sonics. Other than that, it was pretty sweet.
There is a walnut stocked, 24" barreled version on sale in town that I'd like to pick up but I already have another 452 "American" on lay-away right now. If it's still around in a few weeks I may indulge.~AMMOe
PS: If you find a shop with a good layaway program, now is the time. The place I have that 452 on layaway has 10% down and 9 months on the balance. It's a good hedge against inflation. Looking at my investment portfolio's value compared to my gun collection's value makes me wish I'd sunk all my money into firearms. I would still be ahead of the game!

He's really not my buddy, I just see him there on occasion. I asked him how he liked the rifle (and he loves it) but never got into any issues he might have with the lower comb height. I can see where it could be less desireable for scope use.

Put a scope on top and had some fun. I had made a mistake yesterday. I lasered my target and it is 42 yards, not 50...my bad. I used to set a bit farther back, but a shrub has now grown to high to shoot over. I normally use a wood table, but had to use a saw horse today. I plopped my butt on the ground, propped my left elbow up on the chair, locked and loaded and the firing line was ready. I was glad to find out that I had no negative issues using the scope in regards to the lower comb. I was worried about that My point of aim was the lower bottom edge of the orange circle, as it was yesterday with open sights...3 rounds there and two in the center. Did I mention that I Love this gun
My target is hanging in that tree....

Luckily that's my house...the well house that is and the garage. That direction is pretty safe there as there are no houses in that line of fire for several miles. If Diane sees this picture though, she will be inspecting both for bullet holes

Are you sure you don't have any negative issues with the scope??? Dunno, man... That looks like parallax error to me! (Two high, three low?) In any event, it shoots and that's for sure! Beauteous rifle!~AMMOe

I don't know...maybe your right AMMOe. The three on the bottom was my point of aim as was my point of aim on the two that went center mass. The top two were shots number 4 and 5. One through three were near dead on. That's right at a half inch seperation between the two clusters. Now I wish I would have taken 10 shots. I know that I had no difficulty in viewing through the scope and it didn't seem that my target / crosshairs shifted at all while looking through the scope. As long as it stays that close, I'll be happy I'll be eventually shooting some paper at around 75 yards and see how much it opens up. I don't have any real open shooting lanes out here in the woods, but will get to my other 'range' before too long. But, I will mostly be using open sights anyways with this gun...the style just makes it so much FUN to shoot that way. Thanks for your help with this parallax error...another thing besides Obama to worry about now

I had the same problem with my Brno#2 rifle. The shortest rings I could get back in the eighties were high air-rifle rings and I recognize the grouping pattern. For off hand shooting I got into the habit of lifting my right thumb off of the wrist and placing it along a spot in my jawbone. Looked weird but gave me a reference point. I finally made some shorter rings. An idea for you might be to find an older Weaver K 1.5 - 5X variable for glass. No front bell to bonk the rear sight. It's what I used...
In any event, a rabbit wouldn't know there was a parallax error at all! ~AMMOe

I picked up the CZ rings AMMOe as I did not feel like experimenting with adjustables down to 11mm to fit this gun. Any set any shorter than these and the bolt would be hitting the bottom of the scope while trying to chamber a round. As of now, everything fits and works fine and most likely this gun will be scopeless as of next week. I just wanted to make sure the rings would work with the scope.... that I had sufficient bolt clearance, no problem with scope and rear sight and how the parallax, if it existed, might effect my shooting. I'm pretty satisfied with all of it. I know it's a shooter and very comfortable with open sights and also know she will work fine on bushy tails next season with scope...if I choose to mount one even then. It was a good purchase
