t.s.
Its 5 degrees outside as I type this. I'm thinking about my first trip out to South Dakota last year. One afternoon I was all by myself with my Ruger Model 96 .17HMR and 150 rounds of ammo. I was in a dog town that was maybe 10 acres in a very rugged landscape. I didn't miss much and ran out of ammo before it got dark.
This memory keeps me going through these hard economic times.
I'm gonna be back there even if I have to ride a horse!

You ain't right. contentcamo.gif I don't think I'll make it this year, due to the "iffy-ness" of the job right now. I don't know if I'll be working this summer at all (in the housing industry, and things are SLOWWWWWWWWWWWWW right now).
I started having withdrawals before I left South Dakota last summer freakedcamo.gif I didn't want to leave, and got right back into thinking about it before I got back home. I'm hopelessly addicted to Pdoggin', and it's tough trying to do without this year.

I suppose I can "make do" with some kind of something to shoot at, but all things considered, I'd rather be in South Dakota.

ya pdogging sounds like a lot of fun. i decided that after i'm through college and it's paid for, i'm going to spend some time out west. an bowhunt for elk and another hunt for antelope...with lots of time spent for the little squeakers...

If you major in wildlife biology, one of the agricultural sciences, something along those lines, you could do summer internships out in prairie dog country.

Even better. I know a couple of professional hunters in South Africa who might be willing to take an intern. These guys hunt on game ranches, so if that fits into your area of study -> cool.gif

You would have to pay for your own round trip ticket and earn your keep (unless the university helps out), but I'll bet something could be worked out.

Also, plan on going to grad school. Even if you don't, it's always better to be in a position to go than to scramble and catch up at the last minute. Game ranching might be a fertile research area. wink.gif
