Guess who got to break in his new 1712 Annie. I love this thing, but I'm scared of getting it scuffed up.

Scuffs are the visual proof that a rifle is worth a darn. A closet queen is a rifle that doesn't draw much respect~AMMOe

1712...nice, very nice biggrin.gif

What kind of ammo does it prefer? What scope? How does it shoot? Details man, we need details!!

Well, she only has about 50 or 60 rounds through her, but she has a preferance for eley tenex (wouldnt you know it). The first time out the bolt would not close with eley sshp's (my favorite squirrel round). Just picked up a VXIII 4.5-14x40 AO when they went on sale. Most of my groups have been in the .3's and .4's. I plan on ringing her out after Christmas.

Yeah the Eley SSHP's are very tight in my Anschutz too. You might try some Wolf Match Target they shoot well in mine. How do the Tenex perform on live critters? The Wolf MT don't expand much if any, yet they will kill squirrels.

Impressive groups and I'm betting your groups will tighten up even more when the weather warms up.

Once again, cool rifle!!

Yeah no expantion that I can see. Quiet and accuracy are their attributes. Luckily squirrels are really easy to kill.

Purdy rig, CS. Ever make squirrel stew? Rice, mushrooms, tree rats. Hmmm.

Feel your pain about scuffing. Like a new car. First ding hurts the most. After that you can use the butt to drive nails. If you want to delay/avoid dings, though, consider camo tape. Comes off easily if the expensive kind. Regular kind just use ethanol (EverClear) or moonshine to dissolve/remove residue and loosen baked on tape. That's my solution and I'm stickin' to it (??!!). biggrincamo.gif

Then again, you can't see that lovely wood under tape. Really nice.
