IMO you were told correctly on all accounts BUT,, you knew this was coming didn't you

,, There are better bullets available for the WMR. I personally would choose the heavier HP bullets. Not every critter will give you that head shot & sometims you only have a few seconds to get on target. One of the better bullets might be the 40gr HP's.

The CCI TMJ will do the job if the shot is good. I have used them myself for similar tasks tho not on coyote past 60-ish yards.~AMMOe

i will mostly be using the mag for foxes and coons i got a 223 for coyotes i did alot of research and talked to alot of old timers about the tmj round and they said if ur saving pelts than thats the bullet to use
I've never used the TMJ much, I've only ever owned one box and it was bought by mistake. Just wondering if you had tried the 40g hollow point Max-Mag and if they shot well in your rifle?

I would think your rifle would shoot at least one of the other (22WMR) HP's accurately as well. You should give some of them a try.
What rifle do you plan on hunting with?

22mag for drive around gun and 223 for setup

The 22 magnum is a perfect round for foxes. I killed a red fox right out my back window at 2 am in the morning and dropped him in his tracks using a cci 40gr hollowpoint out of my 22 mag. I would not shoot coyotes with a 22 mag due to the fact that it is not enough gun to drop one past 100 yds effectively.
