I would love to do some coyote, fox calling but really wonder if its effective around here with all the dog hunting that goes on.
I figure I will post on here before I invest in a FoxPro?

Check out www.varmintal.com he has on his website how to make your own homemade e-caller. The fox-pros are to pricey, I would stick to some good mouth calls, then as you progress try the foxpro.

I am a beginner as well here in Eastern PA. I have found the hand calls to sound much more natural as to a digital call. Look into the Primos calls the Randy Anderson series are real nice and come with DVD's as well as CD's to get you started. Randy's calling all Coyote DVD's are awesome and a great way to here and see how he calls them in.

You won't have much trouble finding & calling in Fox in W.PA.

You may want to focus on that first.

Prime time is almost here for Red Fox.

I can't speak for your area.

I love my fox-pro and never go calling without it, but I'd suggest going the hand call route for starters. They're cheap compared to the high end e-callers and can be quite effective. The one thing the remote e-callers have over the hand call is that the predator comes in focused on the location where the sound is coming from and not on you. Other than that, the hand calls are just as effective.

Here's a site where you can get a good quality call http://stonecoyotecalls.net/default.aspx Or you can contact "Shooter" (also a member here) who makes very nice good quality hand calls as well.

Good Luck
