Hi all sorry i not been in for a while can any of you good folks help me out, the girlfriend my son & i are arranging a trip in April/May 2009 to Santa Fe, & im hoping for a chance to try some varmint hunting i have no idea as to seasons, permitts, licences etc or indeed wither or not there is anything around that area to shoot ideally i would love to have a go at praire dogs or wood chuck coyotes would be a dream come true but not being native i may be barking up the wrong tree (forgive the puns) So if any of you out there can give me any pointers/ guidance or advice it would be greatfully appreciated, many many thanks Steve eyebrowcamo.gif biggrincamo.gif

Hello cousin, I am not from New Mexico and for Ground Hog I would go to my home state of Pennsylvania or next door to Ohio. But for your plans you can look at this link for information on hunting in NM: http://www.wildlife.state.nm.us/.

Welcome to the US and good hunting

Hang in there! smile.gif

Most of the New Mexico crowd will show up this month as the predator hunting gets underway.

when you get there look up the bureau of land management (BLM) office and they will sell you a map of the surrounding area with public access which in that area it is mostly private with the exception of the forrest they do have prarie dogs if you ask for permission you may get lucky with some land owner your gonna be a few hundred miles north of the predator hunting
