Sussex County, NJ. Just joined. New to varmint (groundhog) hunting. Shot a couple of times at the inlaws in Central PA. Only shooting here in NJ since early June. Been shooting on two local farms. Body count is 43 so far, but am running out of targets. Guess I was too proficient and should have observed some conservation earlier on. Need to find more places to shoot. contentcamo.gif

Think I'm only the second member from northern NJ?

I'm shooting a Thompson Center Encore in 204, Simmons 6x24x40 scope, bipod and sling. Shoot factory ammo. Mostly 32 gr VMax. Going to try some 40 gr VMax at the range tomorrow.

Also have a Savage 12 VLP in 22-250, 1 in 12 twist, but the barrel had a bad spot in it and I'm waiting for Savage to return it any day now.
Using a Nikon Monarch 6x24x50, bipod, sling and factory ammo. Remington UMC 50 gr JHP seem to work best so far. Hoping the new barrel shoots even better. Only had about 50 rounds through it before I sent it back. eyebrowcamo.gif

Here is a link to another site where I've posted some of my hunting stories and pictures if you're interested.

Since I'm new to the varmint game, I'm looking forward to learning all I can from the veterans on this forum. freakedcamo.gif

Talk about overrun. You should see the golf course we got permission to shoot. There are hundreds. It would take us years, but we're going to make this gold mine last a long time. Got five last week and five this morning. Plenty left for my partner in crime. freakedcamo.gif

Here's two of them. biggrincamo.gif

Welcome to the Forum Dogbone!! biggrincamo.gif

Those are some nice chucks. Did you weigh em??
Dogbone
Actually, those are two different hogs. Most of them are that size except for this year's crop which we leave alone. biggrincamo.gif

Thanks for the welcome!

I should get some kind of weighing device. I bet they go close to 15 pounds. shockedcamo.gif

How many pair of slippers do you figure they could make Glen laugh.gif
Glen
When their front paws are up under their shoulders like the top left pic shows they are getting rather large for sure. biggrincamo.gif

Not far from The Woodchuck Den, right, Glen? I used to race motorcycle short track @ Dover/New Philly. Headed to Miller's Guns @ Sugarcreek next trip to "Amish Country" with my wife (wink, wink.) Ever been there? Heard he's got good prices. I'm about an hour west of you.
Glen
dwII-- About 30 minutes from Todd's place. Miller has good prices. His ammo shelf wasn't really loaded that heavy either. Haven't been there in over a year so not sure how he's doing out there. Where are you located?
deathwind II
Mount Vernon area, Knox County.
Glen
Cool. I know where you're at. biggrincamo.gif
