I was out hunting coyotes last weekend, and glassed a few on a hill side. We walked over to the base of the hill and set up. I tried the lip squeak thing I have been working on. It worked, I called in a female to about 100 yrds, and my buddy took the shot. We got 3 coyotes that day using the call. It was very effective! I basically make it sound like a wimpering puppy or kitten, that seemed to work the best. Anyone else tried this technique??

I forgot to include what rifles we used. We both have Marlin .17 HMR's, I use the 917V model, and my friend has the sweet 917VT model. Both are super accurate. He has a Leopold 4-12x40, and I am using a Bushnell 4-12x40. We were hunting just north of Kingman, AZ. When we hunt coyotes out in the more open areas, I use my .243, and he has a .223 he likes to use.

Sounds like a good hunt, you guys out West are lucky with yotes. Don't mention the 17HMR for shooting them though, could cause a fuss round here screamcamo.gif
Seriously well done, I presume you did the lip squeak using your lips or some other calling device?

Thanks, juliang. Yes, just used my lips to make the sqeaking noises. It's amazing what a well placed shot from a bullet 1/2 the size of a standard .22LR can do! (we use the 17 gr. V-max rounds...) biggrincamo.gif I'll have to get some pictures when we go out hunting next, probably in a couple weeks. We recently received a lot of rain here where I live, so there are some good watering holes that are full. Perfect places to hunt..........
