I like my 22-250 Savage Predator so much that I decided to grab another one in .223. Took the yungins out to sight it in today and we decided to go try for a chuck...

I really like the snow camo. It seems to be pretty universal and looked very nice in the field.

I started out today shooting some 62gr FMJ just to put some rounds on paper and I got some really nice 18 inch groups. It was all over the place. I ran over to wally world and grabbed a box of UMC 50gr JHP and it setted right in. I zeroed it in 5 or 6 rounds and it shot a little less than an inch shooting off just a bipod. i am looking forward to getting some .223 dies now.

I'll bet you'll be more impressed once you start loading for it. Good luck.

Way to go! I love to see the kids involved. Some one has said" You don't have to hunt for kids who hunt." However training them to handle guns does have an effect. It makes Sarah Brady ugly and Janet Reno shake. Keep up the good work.

Steve....Nice gun. Nice job on the chuck. Good looking younguns. Is that the Predator 10 XP
with the simmons scope or did you have the scope cammoed separately?
steve154
2few, that is the package simmons scope. I wasn't going to buy the package but the deal was too good. It is fine for now.

Nice....I've been looking at the package gun and the deals I've seen you seem to get the scope thrown in for not much more than the price of a box of ammo. Guess I know what my next rifle will be. I think a visit to "jim's Bait and Tackle" is in order!

My mounts suck...I was just fooling around with the gun and adjusted the eye relief. I decided I better check all the screws and upon tightening the mount screws I snapped one off. I need to find some cammo mounts now. Anyone have any ideas or suggstions?

Steve....Can't just replace the screw? If not, see what Savage has to say about replacing the mounts. They sold the package. They should be willing to replace.
steve154
Good point...I will give em a call today and see what they say.

Steve, Let us know what happens with this. I'm planning to buy 2 varmint rifles in the next 2-3 months. After 6 weeks of deciding what to get I had decided on a Savage model 10 predator and a Savage model 12 bvss, instead of a pair of CZs-a 527 predator and a 527 varmint. Originally I had been leaning towards CZ (memories from the days when Savage=low quality) but research on boards convinced me to go with Savage. Your experience will be educational as to what Savage is like to deal with when things go wrong-which IMO is the best way to REALLY judge how good a company is.

Thanks....2few

2few

I called today, gave em my serial number and they said a new part will be in the mail ASAP. No questions asked and didn't cost me anything. My wait on the phone was all of about 2 minutes and the entire transaction took less than 10 minutes. I had the same experience when I couldn't find my trigger tool and asked for a new one. Had the part in a few days. I am very happy with Savage customer service so far.

Thanks Steve.....Glad Savage is doing the right thing by you. I buy a gun for rep, price, accuracy, looks, but its how they act when something goes wrong that makes me stay with them or go elsewhere.
