call me a hack if I put sling swivels on this Anschutz?

I'm headed for the garage.
Mugwamp
considering it is a beavertail, weighs a ton, and it will look dumb. Nope, it's your rifle. Just don't ever let mine see it, it might just cry. unsurecamo.gif
JimT.
Go for it. Make it more functional. It'll give it more character. It's yours, use it!

A nice leather sling would look and work good on that sweet rig...I'd go for it. That garage must be a dangerous place laugh.gif

weighs a ton,

actually it only weighs 6lbs + the scope.

anyway, it's too late. The sling is on it laugh.gif I'm going to like it better now. It should be much more useable as a hunting rifle.

That would be pretty useless, then, wouldn't it? Unless Red's out in the country someplace, it wouldn't get much use out there. It needs to be taken OUT of the garage, just like his truck, or there's no point in having it. Use the Hell out of it, that's what it's made for! freakedcamo.gif

Hi Red,

Sounds like you already have.

Personally I prefer a sling on all rifles. Just my .2cents.....I would likely put a leather shooting sling or simular brown canvas classic on that one.

For strickly carry and hasty position the Claw slings are my favorite. They are great for hasty position also better than leather imo as they stretch a little.

BTW 1 - I dropped my CZ Hornet clip off at a gunsmith with net instructions to do the mods needed to cycle 40 grain plastic tips with longer C.O.A.L. They basically take 10-15 thou. off the plastic spacer. I did not have the proper tools. Its just a clip.......I ordered another from Mid South (now carries CZ clips BTW) along w) some 40 grain Blitzkings which are supposed to be more explosive @ Hornet velocity than the 40 gr V Maxs I tried in the past are..........keep you posted.

BTW 2 - Sniffing around for another varmint rifle to play with. Not sure what yet. Kind of like the AR's, thoughts also H.B. .223, .243, 25-06 Then for some reason I am thing about a HB Savage 22wmr and just using the less expensive Winchester Super x I used in the past.
No real need........just fun.

To be clear, it's fine if you call me a hack....just wondering if you would or not laugh.gif Remember the vise grips.

I found an Allen sling at Rural King that I put on a 77/22, inexpensive but I like it. I might get another next time I'm out that way, no hurry. I did hunt with it this past weekend and am very happy with the sling decision. Gives me an 2nd free hand when I need it.

not quite...but I'm workin on it tongue.gif

It's a better off hand rifle than the Ruger, although I likem both. I was afraid the Wolf Match Target might not be acceptable killing ammo. It shoots the best in that Anschutz. Turned out that I lost no squirrels with the Wolf. It doesn't seem to expand at all and left minimal damage to meat. In some cases I was hard pressed to find either the entrance or the exit wound, even on one that I knew was head shot. More squirrel volunteers are needed before I can make an honest appraisal of it's consistant ability to put them down without crawl offs, which does happen from time to time even with the best hunting ammo if shot placement is off.

Back in 1994 the American Rifleman had an article by C.E. Harris. In it he showed a tool called "The 22-SGB Tool" made by "The Hanned Line". With this tool you can cut a flat point on any 22 rimfire ammo. The flat point works so much better than a hollow point. Now any ammo can be improved. I have a good friend whose tricked out 10-22 shoots best with Wolf target ammo. By cutting the flat on his Wolf ammo he can kill critters cleanly. This really works.

I don't know if they are still in business but here is the address.

Hey I sincerely appreciate that TJD. I'll look into it. Thanks!
