Here's the latest addition to my toy box, and so far my favorite pig rifle. It started life as a Rem 700 VLS in .308 Win. I had it rebarreled by Pac-Nor in Oregon. Still a .308 Win though. The rest of the work was done by me.
Barrel is 21 3/4" long 1.2" at the breech and for the first 2 1/4", it finishes at the muzzle with a diameter of 1". 5 groove 1:11 twist. Finish is flat black Alumahide from Brownell's
Stock is H-S precision Police sniper, paint is OD Green Alumahide. I had to open up the barrel chanel to accomodate the barrel.
Jewell trigger gets things going smoothly, it's set at 1 lb.
The base is a Warne 20 MOA Picatinny style.
Rings are standard height Badger Ordnance .50 cal rings.
Scope is Leupold MK IV 3.5-10x 40.
Best group to date is .178" at 100 yds using 175 gr Sierra Matchking at 2640 fps fired from Lapua brass, Fed 210 primer, over 43gr Varget.
It's pretty much a "cookie-cutter" rifle. I've only been out with it 4 times, already took a hog. Can't wait to get back out!
