Hey guys, borrowed an electronic caller from a friend (not sure what brand) and I have taken it out a few times. I have not had any luck with any of the rodent/rabbit sounds but I have had them howl back when playing the howling tape but have not had any come in yet. It sounds like there are 20+ yotes. Is howling a good call to use this time of year? I have been doing all my calling in the evening, gonna try to get out in the early morning this coming weekend.

I've tried howling lately and had some success. Had one come in with howl only and another come in barking to a howl and rabbit distress. I would try howling once and then go to a rabbit distress, that has worked for me. You need to be out in the early am right before sunrise.

I use an electronic caller myself most of the time. I record my own sounds which I dump on a CD (which my caller uses). I make my own series and the one that works best is a 20 minute series which starts with a couple of howls and than is nothing but a rabbit distress. It is nice since once you turn it on you can just focus on looking for critters and not worrying about calling.
