With spring just around the corner, lots of folks are starting to think about chuck hunting, myself included. Some of you are in ground hog country, and some of us are in yellow bellied marmot, (aka, rock chuck) country. I remembered this picture from a hunt a couple of guys did in central Oregon last year. They were using PCP airguns to take these guys out as far as 80 yards.

Airgun hunting, compared to powder burners, is a relatively low power finesse sort of affair, so you're not going to blow chunks off of them with an air rifle. Head shots are the rule of the day. Fortunately, good quality airguns are very accurate, so if you know your trajectory plot for the gun and ammo in use, and can judge wind reasonably well, head shots aren't all that difficult to make. Looks like these guys did alright.

Hey John, came close but decided to save that bucket for another time. anim_rofl2.gif Hey did you ever get into PCP's? I know you had the tank and a source for free air. Did you ever make the plunge? smile.gif

Some nice looking long guns right there and a pile of varmints provIng what they can do wink.gif The airgun I shot most was a Sheridan blue strak. It took down plenty of pigeons, rabbits and squirrels, but I do not think it could of been a chuck buster at 80 yards. Good shootin'
