I was reading the 200lb hog with an HMR topic, and there was mention of hogs from California to Florida to Ohio! I'd assume there might be some here in Illinois? Correct me if I'm wrong, but we seem to fit the description of being between Ohio and California! laugh.gif

Southern Ohio Jerry. That would be below I70 for us.
Jerry
Oh! Ok, I didn't know that. I'm still in "their terriory," about 10 miles south of I-70 laugh.gif I guess being in a cluster of large suburbs, it doesnt promote their habitat. Maybe more south towards Benton, IL? I'm just curious, because there is a lot of talk about them, and if I'm in the region we must not have had them move in yet? Theres no mention of them on our DNR site for Illinois, so I'd assume not... huh.gif

Thanks,
Jerry

We just started seeing them in the last three years in south eastern CO. This state does not recognize them as 'game animals' and basically they are like coyotes. No license required and can be shot on sight where its legal to fire a gun. Our DOW will only comment that they threaten existing wildlife and property.

I have not seen any mention of them here in IL, but do not know why they wouldn't be here? I'm sure a few could be in the southern most portions, particularly in the Shawnee area and we would not hear about it.

Some idiots let some loose in East TN, they are rampant there now, they stretch to just South of Nashville today. I have just got a lease in East TN, it is covered up with hogs. Bad news for my friends who wish to deer hunt, great news for me!!

THEY ARE TURNING UP ALL OVER IN MICHIGAN. DNR IS BEGGING HUNTERS TO SHOOT THEM. WITH ALL THE SWAMP LAND IN MI. THEY ( THE DNR) WILL NEVER GET RID OF THEM. DNR SAYS HOGS ARE HERE IN EATON COUNTY BUT NONE AROUND ME YET.

There is no sign of hogs up here on the ground I hunt & the farmers I know haven't mentioned any either. But they will be shot on sight on my land because there are no hog farmers anywhere near where I hunt. The closest would be a 30 minute drive.

Hey Glen....Do you know of these Ohio Boar busters a little SE of you? It's an interesting story. NC has a dedicated hunting season for them in a few Eastern counties and there are suppose to be some rogue unprotected colonies near the SC border.

This is the 1st I've heard of these guys Mike. I don't know where they are. There's a big difference between East Centrl Ohio where I'm at & SE Ohio where they call home. The largest populations as I understand it are well South of I70. I77 is supposed to be an hours drive East of the bigger populations. But as I said before,, they WILL get shot on my hunting property. biggrincamo.gif

There are hogs now in PA, North Central, above I-80.

We have been getting quite a few reports in eastern washington.

Southern Missouri has them also. So far they seem to be in the area south of I 44 and east of Highway 5. However there is nothing to stop their spread north ward but the Missouri River. The Conversation Dept. (Those in charge of the King's deer.) has issued a Shoot-On-Sight order.

North Centeral Arkansas also has them. Plus a huntable population of Black Bear which are spreading into southern Missouri. So now between the boars and bears our deer and turkey are having a tough time. I will be happy to help hunt these new Varmints. Come to think of it I may NEED a new big bore Varmint gun. Now, would that be GOOD news or BAD news? HA
