I'm looking into a levergun that I can use for both hogs & Javelina. I want to be able to put the hog down reliably, but not blow apart the javelina. I'm bearing in mind that many of the (levergun) pistol cartridges are able to shoot, for example 38/357, 44sp./44mag etc. Thanks for your help.

I bought a Marlin 44mag for hogs and I shot 5 this past hunting season. I also shot a bobcat and a button buck, they all went down hard. I shoot open sights. Love that rilfe.
