Went out this evening after work to make a call or two. I was Bowhunting last night and had 4 coyotes come by the treestand just at dark. Went back this evening with the .204 Rem. and the Foxpro. This big male came out in the picked cornfield after about 2-3 minutes of the Rabbit distress call. He made the mistake of stopping to look for the call at about 125 yards. He tipped the scales at 34.4 lbs. I really like the new .204, no exit hole, but I have got to get the 5 minute coyote video. It takes me about an hour to skin one.
Eric: Please move this to the contest thread as I cant get it to let me enter anything.
Thanks

That's a big dog right there. Did you end up skinning it, or at least keep the skull?

Eric:
I skinned him out, the pelt was in excellent condition. I wasnt expecting the fur to be in this good of condition this early in the fall.
Thanks

Walleyeman:
I have been using Hornady 32gr V-Max. They do a real good job, I havent had one exit yet.

Thanks for the info. Where was the shot placement? I too am going to use a .204 with factory loads and presently have the 34gr Win JHP sighted in with the 32gr Vmax as my backup. Hope to get a coyote soon to see how it works!

Walleyeman:
I hit him behind the front shoulder in the rib cage. I try to avoid the shoulder or any heavy bone, that is what makes the gaping holes when bullet hits heavy bone. The bone will blow out along with the bullet fragments and make a nasty hole.
Good luck with your 204. I think I may take my .17 Rem out next time. Had 2 more Coyotes come by my treestand this morning but to much brush and they never stopped in a clear enough area for me to take a shot with my bow, although I did leave a nice gut pile from the doe I shot this morning in the edge of the field for bait. I will be checking it tomorrow evening.

Got out this morning for a few hours. Called in 2 about 11:30. Got this female @ approx. 50 yards. First Coyote using the new FoxPro Jack in the Box. It really captures their attention.
