Ended up on the east side of Ft Hunter Ligget. unfortunately it was the middle of the two week deer season and there were lots of hunters and rifle fire. The Hogs had gone to cover.... The trip was great though what beautifull country. I will be heading up again in November to try and get one up under the oaks.

Been there a few times while stationed at Ft. Ord. Check the area around the "Palisades". We did rappeling exercise there and always saw a lot of very BIG hogs. Bob

BTW I should have brought the Mach 2 there were literally hundreds of ground squirrels. There was a fellow there with a new savage .17HMR he told me that on Saturday he got 22 squirrels... Oh well live and learn next time I will pack the Marlin 917S. Then I will be sure to get something!

Caharris Were you on the base? I was always told you couldn't shoot ground squirrels on base, maybe something has changed. There is definitely a ton of squirrels on the base but we've always shot on private property around there.

I was not on the base. I passed throught to the western side of the base about 6 miles outside the western boundary. The section is called "the indians" lots of ground squirrels back when I went I suppose they are all down for the winter now. I am planing a trip soon with brand new Marlin 1895g 45/70 looking for pigs but will bring the .17M2 just in case.
