Here are the requirements in order to qualify for the gift:

1) The forum member (whose child/children/grandchildren/niece/nephew enters the drawing) must be an active, participating part of the Varminter community.
2) The child must be between the ages of 6 and 17 when the entry is submitted.
3) The forum member accepting the firearm on behalf of the child must be legally allowed to possess the firearm (firearm will be sent to an FFL, if applicable).
4) The child must write an essay on his/her favorite day in the outdoors while hunting/shooting/fishing/etc.
5) The child must be doing well in school and be respectful towards his/her parents.

Once the cut-off date for entries is reached, the essays will be made available for the forum members to read. The entries will be judged and three kids will be chosen for the finals. These kids will be interviewed via telephone by one of the judges. After the interviews have taken place, the finalist's names will be entered into a raffle. The winning name will be drawn and announced ASAP. The cut-off date for entries is 11:59 PM (pst), February 28, 2009.

The entries should be posted within this forum, by the child who wrote the essay. If your child cannot type the essay, please PM me so I can give you a mailing address to send the original to.

Any final determination on eligibility will be at the sole discretion of Varminter.com.

Life is all about the kids...The kids who will take charge of the good ole United States of America before we know it. What they become involved in right now...will be what they are involved with 10, 15 and 20 years from now. Helping them make good decisions is a lasting impact on our future that we can be involved with. Russ must have been a great guy! Do you guys have the prize funding under control? Need a hand with donations? I do not have any participants for the essay, but will be glad to lend a hand...errr, buck or two Thanks for taking the time to put such things together as this!

We can always use prize funding, even if it is put towards future gifts. My wife and I will be sending Glen $100.00 in a couple of weeks to add to what has been collected so far.

I hope more kids participate this year, but that is really up to their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, etc.
