I had a HUNTS FOR HEROES hunt last weekend and the wounded killed five Axis Deer. They are still in the hospital at BROOKS MEDICAL CENTER so I told them I would have the deer made into Jerky as they don't have a way to store it. ....To make a long story short; it costs almost as much to have jerky made as it does to buy it. $5.00 lb. raw meat. ohmy.gif

I have a smoker and a long weekend (five days) off. Do any of you backwoods common, redneck, hicks have a good jerky recipe. ....Bust yer ass for this, it’s for some burned up kids I fell in love with

Venison Jerkey

Ingredients:

* 1-2 lb lean venison steak or roast, cut to desired thickness
* 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
* 1/2 tsp garlic powder
* 1/2 tsp pepper
* 1/2 tsp salt
* 2 tsp liquid smoke
* 1/4 cup soy sauce
* 1/4 cup, white cider vinegar
* 1/4 cup Worchestershire sauce
* 2 tbsp crushed red pepper (optional)

Directions:

Mix all ingredients besides meat in a bowl. Marinate meat in bowl at least 2 hours. Preheat oven to 150-200F. Place marinated meat on baking sheets and slide onto oven racks. Leave oven door open a crack and let sit until dry.
