I was curious, so I pulled up the N.M. Game & Fish Dept. web page. The 2009-2010 Small Game rules & regs states this:

"Protected Bird Species

Virtually all birds are protected by law. Protected birds

include game birds listed in this booklet, eagles, hawks,

falcons, owls, vultures, crows, ravens and all songbirds.

The only unprotected birds are starlings, rock doves

(common pigeons) and house sparrows (English

sparrows)."

Looks like you're okay to as far as shooting starlings and sparrows....
and...
The "Mexican Long-Nosed Bat" is on the endangered list too. dry.gif seriously.

The birds We can only shoot with out a license are common sparrows and starlings last I checked. May need to check on it again.

English Sparrows are the only ones you can legally take. All others are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.

No crows this weekend. Sometimes we have a hard time locating a decent number of birds for a shoot. Will try again on the weekend after next. biggrincamo.gif
