Iv been wanting to get one of those Tikka T3 Super Varminters and I cant decide between the .243 or the .260? Im going to be using it for coyotes up to Pronghorn. I already have a .243 and its awesome but iv heard a lot about the .260 and their high ballistic coefficent bullets. What do you guys think?

260 would be a step up in bullet wieght and good coef but, if your going up take look at the 7mm-08 also.

Tikkas are fine rfiles. And, not taking anything away form the .260, I've been so happy with my old .243 on everything from long distance crows to deer I wouldn't change.

Why do you want two rifles chambered for the same cartridge?

I would buy the .260 Remington and use it for big game and the .243 Winchester for coyotes and varmints.

Don't know anything about Tikkas but I have a .260 Rem. which I really like. Deadly on deer and antelope and not bad on the shoulder either. I bought one for my son to hunt big game with when he was 12...plenty of gun for even the biggest of deer.

My tikka continental is in 17Rem and is the cat's meow smile.gif honestly, it gets used much less than my old BDL in .17Rem; it's HEAVY and LONG and just cannot be described as 'handy' in any way shape or form. Accurate, hell yes, freakishly so.

How about trying a .204 for coyotes and maybe using your 243 for the deer?

6.5x55mm...one of the ultimate pronghorn cartridges, and capable of dumping coyotes out to obscene ranges.

BTW, I like the Tikka T-3 Hunter's as well. Good carry rifle, real good accuracy.
